Cara-Jean walked into the girls dorm room and looked around. The place was neat and tidy, but nothing about it yet screamed home.
Walking over to a bed that looked like it wasn't being used, she placed her case on the bed along with her garment bags. She drew in a breath and closed her eyes as she thought about having to settle in to another "home". She opened her eyes and gave a short laugh, this was nothing new to her, so why was it being such a big problem?
Shaking her head, she started putting away her things. Unzipping the first bag, she removed her riding clothes along with her ice skating uniforms. The second garment bag contained her old school uniform along with a pant suit. All of these she carefully hung in her wardrobe. Next she opened her single case and slipped her hand under a pile of laundered shirts which she slid into one of her draws. Into another draw she place her leotards and tights along with her underwear.
Sliding the draws closed, she shrugged off her backpack and unzipped that. From this she removed a pencil case, a sketch book, a couple of novels including Northern Lights by Philip Pullman. From her pack, she also removed a framed newspaper clipping of a photo of her parents which she slid into the draw of her bedside table.
Walking over to a window, she rested her forehead onto the pane of glass and looked out at the expansive campus of the school, trying to decide whether she was excited or nervous about starting at the new school.
